Being a mom is one of the most rewarding yet challenging roles anyone can take on. If you're reading this, I'm sure your goal is to be the very best mom you can be for your tribe. And I'm here to offer your mom motivational reminder for the week that if you want to be the best mom you can be, you have to take care of you too.
Miracle Mommy Moments to Avoid Mom Guilt & Be a Good Parent
Let's preface this week's challenge with this reminder: God's entrusted us with our babies, so while I'm all for going after my dreams and becoming my best self as a mom, none of it would matter if my kids aren't also thriving. One of the main ways I aim to be a good mom is to create what I call miracle mommy moments. I got this idea from Tony Robbins years ago I mention in my TEDx talk--that one of the ways I avoid mommy guilt is by consciously creating pockets of love with my children throughout the day. Here's some examples I do to ensure my kids feel loved, seen, and valued:
Make notes for them on their homeschool desk that remind them of their greatness
When they speak to me--I aim to face them, give them my undivided attention, looking in their eyes and of course, putting the phone down if I had it in hand
Doing something FUN with them they all enjoy (making a fort with popcorn and a movie, sitting down and reading a funny story together with tea, or my recent personal favorite: playing hide and seek!
These moments matter. They remind your children how important they are to us. And they allow us as moms to be present and--gasp--actually thrive and not just survive in motherhood!
Moms Wear Heels Body, Mind, Spirit Challenge
Don't worry, mom: I come with good news: you can be a good mom (not a perfect one), without completely becoming a martyr. Even the busiest moms can carve out time for the simple challenge I've created below. As a homeschooling work-from home mom with four children and no nanny or maid--I get how difficult it can be to make time for you. So rest assured, you can do this! Warning: more joy, a fit body, and present mind will occur.
Each day for the next week I'm going to challenge to do these simple things for the health of your body, mind and spirit:
Mind
Begin your day with reading one page of a book you love that teaches, encourages, and inspires you.
Sit in silence afterwards for at least one minute and try to feel stillness--NOT thinking about the to-do list you have to take on!
Focus on something you're grateful for while you sip your coffee ❤️
Body
Move your body for at least seven minutes. Yes, this WILL make a positive difference in your day and overall life. I've linked one of my go-to seven minute workout challenges above. If you have more time--aim for one of the workouts in this playlist. All you need are a pair of dumbbells and you're good to go! Just be prepared to burn fat, build sexy muscle, and feel energized ;)
Aim to drink at least half your body in ounces of water a day. I'm 145 pounds, so I aim to drink at least 75 ounces of water a day. Set reminders on your phone when you wake, midday, and a few hours before bed to remind you to drink that water, girl! Your skin will thank you.
Aim to have vegetables and/or fruit with each meal. Doing this aids in digestion which contributes to your body burning fat and, of course, the antioxidant will give your skin that glow we all want. Spirit
Aim to seek God for at least 5 minutes a day in prayer. I prefer to do this in the morning. After my reading time, I'll read my bible, or simply talk to God and listen. Disclaimer: I'm not here to push my beliefs on anyone. If you know me, you know I'm a big JESUS girl. But I respect everyone's unique spiritual journey. So while this step is necessary, it's also a very personal step in our challenge.
Set those alarms and reminders, girl ⏰
To close, I'm going to challenge you to set those alarms and reminders now! Set alarms for the following:
The time you plan to wake
Your reading time
Your workout
Your time with God
Reminders three times a day to chug. That. Water. 💦👏🏽
Remember, you are more than capable of taking care of those babies and yourself, mama. God entrusted you to be the one to do just that. We GOT this!
