3 Reminders to Help You Stick To Your Fitness Goals This Week As a Busy Mom

Achieving your fitness goals before you become a mom vs when you are carrying for another life (in my case 4 lives), are two very different feats.
Before I had my first child, I was one of the most active people you knew. I'd wake up at 5:00 AM rain, sleet or snow and do my morning jog for cardio (and sanity), then weight train at the gym after work and school for an hour (at least), and dance on stages professionally in between.
It was fun!
But as a woman who now (gratefully) has four children to raise and homeschool, this super active lifestyle working out for hours on end just isn't feasible for me anymore. I'm not in that season of life.

But if you're anything like me (and chances are you are because you're here), although you don't have hours to spend at the gym everyday, you still have fitness goals as a busy mom.
Below are my three tips to help you in crushing those fitness goals this week, kids in tow and all:
Remember your why
As a mom, our fitness goals have an even bigger 'why' attached to them. Not only do I want to be healthy and strong to care for my tribe, but I'm planning on being around to help my children with their babies. That requires a long term vision. So while we may not want to invest hours a day at a gym away from our family while our babies are young, we can choose to make time for that 20 minute home workout so we can have long term health to care for generations to come.
Anti-aging benefits
I'm always flattered when people tell me I look like I'm in my late 20s because this mama is--gasp--turning 40 next year. My top anti-aging secret? Weight training. My home workouts, while they are under 30 minutes on average, include dumbbells as a part of my resistance training. I learned in my 20s before becoming a mom that cardio alone won't transform your physique, but that training with weights will. So it's helpful for us busy moms to keep in mind that not only will our daily movement lower stress, help us be more fit and healthy, if we add weights we can also celebrate anti aging effects of doing so. #yay!!!
We inspire our kids with our example
Every time I set a new fitness goal around the house, my kids inevitably get involved. I've incorporated a pull up bar to our home fitness equipment and all four of my kids get so pumped up to beat their record from the day before. I can't tell you how much it means to me when I hear my teenager, Eliel yell, "Go mom!!" from down the hall when he sees me struggling to get that last rep in.
I only share what I truly love. Some links are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

So, what you do get in for your fitness goals this week as a busy mom, celebrate the above three reminders. You are phenomenal! Remember that.
